The flood gates were opened back up

My wife and I did a thing recently. We attended a Christian gospel concert. The headliner was Zach Williams who you may know for songs such as 'Less like me,' 'Old church choir,' and the massively popular hit song 'Chainbreaker.' the concert started at 7pm at Packinghouse Christian fellowship and we arrived almost an hour early to a line that wrapped around the building. We met some friends from our church (shout out Gabe, Melanie, Jeff, and Danny). The mood was lit to use a popular term, well it was popular last time I checked. Once we got inside the church, they had to change to this church venue because they had sold out of tickets and give more people the opportunity to attend the concert, the atmosphere was lively and we were super excited. We got great seats on the second story balcony the temperature was perfect all throughout the concert. I highly suggest the balcony if you go to a concert with one. My group debated amongst ourselves the meaning of the sign on the stage that said "Cain." We thought perhaps it was a reference to the first murderer in the Bible which would have been odd, but we were open to anything. Low and behold it was the name of the first band:

Cain was awesome, the best word that comes to mind is intimate. They used programmed drums, I think, as I saw no live drummer, but it didn't detract from their musical or vocal performance. families singing together is a beautiful thing and this was no exception. They got people out of their seats, they had people shouting their catchy lyrics back at them and they left the crowd wanting more. Perfect opening act. Check them out here on Instagram

Next up was the award winning We The Kingdom.

This is another family band and they were a lot of fun. They covered the spectrum from high tempo numbers that got the crowd moving to soulful heartfelt slow songs. They had a lot of fun and at one point a young man got on the piano and shouted some lyrics before jumping off onto the stage. At the end of their set they promoted a charity called Compassion where you can sponsor an individual child. They shared their personal experiences in helping the less fortunate. one of the lead guitarists also shared his struggle with alcoholism and how God delivered him. All in all they gained some new fans with me and my group. Here is a link to their Instagram

Finally we get to the man of the hour. Or the three and a half hours. The crowd was absolutely electric when Zach Williams walked on the stage. Musically it was curious he didn’t have a bass guitar playing, I’m not sure how much of a difference it would have made. The music was great regardless. His aesthetics were awesome with the five color changing stained glass windows in the background. He had a perfect blend of high energy and low key music that made it interesting. A few highlights for me was the crowd in the back dancing like David did when the ark of the coven showed up. The thing that stick out to me the most was his performance of “Chain Breaker”, he go to the chorus and backed off from the mic and allowed the crowd to sing the chorus and it was breath taking. Almost haunting in its deliver, you could hear the emotion and spiritual release as they sang. for the people who left right before this song they missed out on an experience. Then the band walked off the stage and the audimenace continued a full throated cheer. Begging Zach and his band to come out for one more song, which they obliged.

I must say it was a great time of worship, fellowship and fun with friends and family. The amount of emotion and spiritual yearning pent up for over a year. The pandemic has made it difficult to have large gatherings as evident by this concert being rescheduled multiple times due to government restrictions. This was a breach of the floodgates, and it was a beautiful out flowing of love and power. Our Lord Jesus Christ is calling out to all who would listen so I hope you would listen to some of this music and especially the underlying message of hope and redemption.
